We are El Gallo Taqueria in Midtown Miami seeking a skilled Line Cook/Prep Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will assist in the preparation and execution of delicious dishes in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Duties:
- Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food.
- Assist in cooking and preparing various menu items under the guidance of the chef
- Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
- Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash and organizing of all areas.
- Ensure all food and other items are stored properly. Closely following FIFO.
- Monitor food stock and place orders when there are shortages
-Preferred knowledge of Mexican cuisine (sauces, preparations, dishes)
-Strong knife skills with ability to execute dishes consistently and effectively.
-Expert in all food safety procedures
-Culinary degree is a plus.
-Ability to work well with a cohesive team in a fast-paced environment.
-Ensuring that food portions and food presentation meet standards.
-Maintains workspace clean at all times.
-Cleaning and dishwashing is part as well.
Experience:
- Previous experience in a professional kitchen or culinary environment is preferred
- Knowledge of food handling and sanitation standards
- Ability to work well in a team setting
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Familiarity with menu planning and meal preparation techniques
